# 004 A great quote from Jiddu Krishnamurthy

You are not to understand the teaching: you are to understand yourself. The teachings are only a means of pointing, explaining... Do not try to understand what the speaker says, but understand that what he says acts as a mirror in which you look at yourself. When you look at yourself carefully, then the mirror will not be important, you will be able to throw it away.

  1. you like him too! He saved my life! amazing person! But I don't like what they do at the study centres, you are allowed to read and discuss only his teachings!!

  2. Hi Apee,

Thats g8, that you like him.

Have you attended any of the monthly retreats? You mayfind it good/useful.

You can always carry your own materials and read at The Study. However, pl remember you are not to follow his sayings (he doesn't teach) but understand yourself!! In fact if you are inclined in this field I suggest you read Dayananda Saraswati or attend Sw. paramartananda'a classes in Chennai.

  3. I haven't attended- yet. But I want to sometime. And yes, like you said- I need to learn to not follow. It is so hard, but I am trying.
I am a bit "inclined" :D I'll read them. You have any suggestions maama, for a beginner, to Dayananda Saraswathi?

  4. stSw Dayananda Saraswati is the simplest. you can buy his CDs/DVDs. Or you can take it from me. His books are also very easy on our mind.

Sw paramarthananda is in Chennai and he gives regular lectures. perhaps you can attend them.

Sw. Paramarthananda, I should maybe attend a few lectures. I'll try them and mail you about how it was.
